John Morrill (historian)

John Morrill FBA (born 1946) is a British historian. He specialises in the political, religious, social and cultural histories of early-modern Britain.[1]

He was educated at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, in the affluent county of Cheshire. He is Professor of British and Irish history at Cambridge University, Fellow of Selwyn College, Cambridge, and a Fellow of the British Academy. According to the BBC he was President of the Cromwell Association, "a body that seeks to promote public knowledge about and interest in Cromwell and his age" for 10 years.[2] Morrill serves as a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church
